“The goal as a company is to have customer service that is just not the best but legendary”, with this thought in mind The BBA Department of The Bhawanipur Education Society presents its annual Marketing Webinar on – “The Changing Face of Indian Service Industry Post COVID-19 Outbreak”.
The webinar was commenced by the moderator Dr. Suman Kumar Mukerjee, a fellow of All India Management Association, also a member of the Indo British Scholars’ Association, and a recipient of the Mother Teresa International Award for Excellence in Education. Formerly, he’s been a consultant and corporate trained to leading corporates such as ITC, just one of the name amongst a very long list also a member of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
Dr. Mukerjee believes like a river changes its course, the Indian service industry should also change its course to optimize on the opportunities presented. Quoting disparate leaders on their thoughts about the idea of the service sector like Muhammad Ali who believed “service to others is the rent we pay for living here on earth”.
The first speaker being Professor Chandradeep Mitra, a senior industry leader in the domains of marketing, branding, communications and media for 20 years, changed tracks to become a facilitator and guide for the success of others. He is the CEO and founder of the consultancy firm, Pipal Majik, and the co-founder of Meta4Sight, a certified leadership coach and certified cross-cultural intelligence trainer, a charter member, executive committee, and ex-secretary of prestigious education institutions and societal clubs.
Sir preached that even though the pandemic has not only cognizant the eyes of the government but also the public about the problem of dependency on others to satisfy ones need, it is imperative that we become a “atmanirbhar” country. He gives credence to the motto that “if we can’t be the factory of the world, we can be the office of the world”, that is improving the service sector, would lead to reducing the carbon footprint, hence in turn generating sustainable economy and optimum utilization of resources for this as well as the coming generations. He also gave weightage to the “D” alterations such as Data Driven economy, Deciphering Information, Domesticated, Digital Marketing and the Domino Effect as pointed out by our moderator.
The second speaker was Anoop Hoon, a certified executive coach and over three decades of accolades in distinguished companies. He designed an organizational diagnostic assessment tool covering areas such as Leadership, Succession planning, Family Council, Family Business Charter, Culture & Climate, Learning & Innovation, Competitive advantage and Business Life Cycle.
Restaurant Industry and Home & Commercial Industry were the cynosure of sir’s speech. He evangelized that to socially distance is to alienate from others, rather the requirement is that of physical distance and in the hospitality industry the key factor is to preserve human interactions. He believes that the companies are differentiated on the basis of organized and unorganized sectors of which the first can provide some form of financial benefits to its employees whereas the latter is in no such form to stimulate benefits and encouragement to its employees. He is a visionary who believes that the restaurant industry in order to attract footfall and retain customers have to create a new atmosphere after the pandemic, where diner feel the hygiene needs are met by having apps to book tables, upon scanning the QR codes the patrons are allowed inside to the assigned tables with robotic food delivery at the table and open kitchen for the customers to see the safety precautions are being met.
All of the 178 participants were elated with the ideas and energized to think of start-ups they might engage in as future managers. The event was a huge success owing it to the organizers the teachers of the BBA Department, the Presidents of the BBA- Event Management committee Dikshya Jha and Suyash Somvanshi along with Prof. Kaushik Banerjee Event Management Teacher Coordinator played a pivotal role for the success of the event.
The Department of History conducted a field trip to Murshidabad from 9th May to 12th May, 2023. Thirty students from semesters 2, 4 and 6 along with five teachers from the department left from Chitpur station at 6:30 am reaching Murshidabad at 10:30 am. On 20th October 2016, BESC organised an industrial visit to Skipper Limited, leading manufacturers of PVC pipes. About 40 students of Commerce Plus and YI along with Prof. Vijay Kothari visited the manufacturing unit at Uluberia.
