Human Resource Management is often referred to simply as Human Resources (HR). A company or organisation’s HR department is usually responsible for creating, putting into effect and overseeing policies governing workers and the relationship of the organisation with its employees. The whole system indicates the objectives of management and leadership. The Bhawanipur Education Society College has a trend of emerging with novel ideas. Symposium on Human Resource management was one such attempt taken by BESC on 21st August, 2019 at The Society Hall at 10:30 am onward.
The Society Hall was agog with 80 students from B.Com Honours and Commerce plus department. Professor Dilip shah welcoming the audience introduced the speaker and topic to be highlighted on the podium. “Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder of success; leadership determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall” quoted Prof Dilip Shah and welcomed Dr Snigdha Mishra. She is an MA, M.PHIL & PHD in personnel management and Industrial Relations from Utkal University, Odisha and an LLB too. She has published articles and research papers in various professionals and referred journals like VIKALP, ISTD & MDC journal of management. Her area of interest is in Human Resource Management and leadership development to name a few. Presently she is working as a Professor and H.O.D in HR department at the Institute of Technology & Management.
She began her speech by letting her knowledge not confuse the students between what they are doing and what they aspire and management is required at this particular stage. All of us are leaders and we all want to be remembered but to be remembered we need to create something within us that makes us different from the common lot. Human Resource is particularly required in every field of organisation and an HR must know the right person to be put forward.
Before the symposium coming to its end, sets of questionnaire were distributed among the attendees and various traits of personalities were discussed with Human Resource of an organisation. Finally the speaker ended her speech and she seemed quite pleased with solemn ambience and keenness of the students. Prof Dilip Shah felicitated Dr Snigdha Mishra with a memento as a token of honour and appreciation and thus drew the curtain to the event.
