Objective of the event: This academic trip aimed to provide the students with a deeper understanding of India’s struggle for independence and the role of Mahatma Gandhi.
Brief description of the event: The Department of Political Science organized a study trip for Semester 4 students to Barrackpore, covering Gandhi Ghat and Gandhi Museum, on 21st February 2025. The first stop was Gandhi Ghat, a historic site where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed in the Ganges River. Students were briefed about the significance of the site and the events surrounding Gandhi’s death. They also observed the memorial plaque and the surrounding architectureThe trip aimed to provide students with a hands-on learning experience, exploring the historical significance of the locations and their relevance to India’s struggle for independence. This was followed by the visit to the Gandhi Museum. The museum showcases a vast collection of artifacts, photographs, and personal belongings of Mahatma Gandhi. Students were fascinated by the exhibits, which provided a glimpse into Gandhi’s life, his struggles, and his philosophies. The museum’s curator delivered a comprehensive briefing, highlighting the significance of each exhibit.
Outcome of the event: The academic trip to Barrackpore, covering Gandhi Ghat and Gandhi Museum, was a resounding success.
