The much awaited workshop on stock exchange started on Friday, 5th December, 2014, accompanied by the appreciated efforts of volunteers brought the experts on stock market analysis to share their experiences as well as knowledge. The workshop continued for four days and the event has been described vividly as follows.
Day 1 (5th December):
Mr. Avik Kundu, from NSE gave light on the basic idea about the world market. He further added on the entire details about the working of the stock market along with the financial overview of the stock market. He discussed about SEBI, RBI, Stock exchanges and various other related institutes as well as the market behavior at different point of time. The students were provided with the pamphlets/brochures on NSE. It was also decided that an NCFM Capital Market (Dealers) module examination would be conducted by NSE and its certification would also be provided for.
Day 2 (6th December):
Mr. Vivek Bajaj, a mastermind in stock market investments, equipped the students with knowledge about the various career options in the financial market. He also gave a brief idea about the regulatory authorities and the different parties involved in stock exchange business. Making the students actively participate in the discussion gave emphasis on newspaper reading for developing a basic economic sense. Introduction to the site www.elearnmarkets.com lead the students to avail the facility of e-learning about the stock market. He discussed about the various upcoming opportunities in the financial sector with emphasis on the proposed educational qualifications.
Day 3 (7th December):
Mr. Abhijit Paul is a regular face seen on business channels like CNBC, CNBC Awaaz, Zee Business and Bloomberg. He visited the college to share his knowledge about the technical as well as fundamental analysis on stock market. The methodology of studying trends of stock market was explained. Candle stick charts and Bar charts were shown which gave an idea about the five minute interval/hourly/daily/weekly/monthly/yearly movements in stock market during the market hours.
Day 4 (8th December):
Mr. Ajay Jaiswal, having a strong experience of about 20 years as an investment strategist, shared his immense knowledge. The correlated effects of prices in the financial market of India with reference to the global markets were explained. The logical thinking upon the convincing strategies was explained as how they are interpreted. The concept of price-to-earnings multiple ratios were introduced to the students and study the valuation of Nifty and then invest. The whole idea is to get a sound understanding of the entire global market.
After much co-operation among the faculties and the students of the college who managed to attract experienced people from the stock-market background to share their experiences with the students.
The Bull’s Eye Collective of the Bhawanipur Education Society College had organised a five day workshop on Capital Market titled ‘ The Secrets of Capital Market ‘ from 7th September to 11th September. About 200 students participated in the workshop which included about 100 students from Commerce Plus diploma course.
With the phenomenal changes in educational and information technology, the role of a teacher has undergone dramatic changes. He/she is expected to possess skills and abilities to plan the curriculum, make rational use of the media technology, and design an assessment strategy. This is possible only through a systematic approach to faculty development.
