The district audition of Speak For India West Bengal was held at The Bhawanipur Education Society College on 5th February 2020.
Speak for India is an initiative by Federal Bank in association with The Times of India to encourage young, dynamic and enthusiastic minds across the nation to raise their voice on pertinent issues and play the role of change maker in society. The event offers college students a podium to explore their awareness, insights and perspective on contemporary topics.
The West Bengal Edition of Speak For India is being held in three languages – Bengali, Hindi and English. Phases of evaluation includes district, zonal, semi-final and the final round.
The district event held in the city witnessed participation of over 50 students from colleges across the city. The event was judged by Mr. Souvik Roy , Head of Treasury at the Federal Bank, Kolkata and Prof. Mohit Shaw, faculty at The Bhawanipur Education Society College, who apart from judging, also motivated the students about developing a habit of public speaking and how that could come handy in professional life. In the preliminary round of audition, participants were given topic by drawing after which they could speak on the subject. Later, 10 participants were selected for the zonal round out of which 4 students were from The Bhawanipur Education Society College.
Post the event, the Federal Bank officials also thanked Prof. Dilip Shah, Dean of Student Affairs at BESC, for taking initiative for organising these events.
