Per its tradition of imparting new skills to its students, The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised a Skating Workshop on the 18th of June 2024, in the Knowledge Adda Area in front of the Campus Library. The workshop was set to commence in two batches on the same day; the first batch would be held from 9:00 A.M. and end at 11:00 A.M. while the second batch would start from noon and end at 3:00 P.M. The initiative was greeted with enthusiasm as more than 50 students from various semesters across all disciplines attended the workshop.
To provide the right guidance to the students, the college arranged for a fellow student, Yashvi Naygandhi, as the guide for this workshop. Participants were first introduced to the idea of skating and how skate shoes work. Following the introduction, they were asked to strap on the skate shoes and take slow careful steps while focusing on maintaining balance. The next step was to hold the railings and slowly glide in the skates while also learning how to stop. As the participants gained more confidence, it was time for them to skate without any support under the vigilance of the assigned volunteer. The number of students in the first batch was comparatively lower than the number of students in the second batch as many people registered on the spot with the motive of trying out a new activity.
Among the many participants; the workshop also saw the participation of the Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah as well as the BESCs Sports Officers, Mr Rupesh Gandhi and Mr Bhavin Parmar. Their active presence and participation were appreciated and were proof of their enthusiastic support towards such initiatives. At the same time, BESC looks forward to organising further Skating Classes for its students.
