Seeking Sponsors is one of the major ways to crowdfund your events, whether you are a corporate or an individual. Seeking Sponsorships successfully requires some preparation which mainly determines whether you will get a sponsor or not. The ‘Seeking Sponsorship’ Workshop was held in the Society Hall on November 3rd, 2022 at 11.00 am under the mentorship of Ms. Samiksha Khanduri, an Educator & Entrepreneur. The event began with the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, who initiated the students on the idea of sponsorship. The workshop oriented the students into a direct conversation with one of the alumni of the college, Navneet Duggar, working in Field Activations at Sleepy Owl.
Sponsorship seeking is not possible without the students being ushered into the importance of the conversation skills required to pursue a sponsor. Navneet, became an ideal fit for the workshop as he got on a Video call with more than 100 student participants, moderated by Prof. Shah. Navneet was introduced to the students as an alumnus of BESC and it was thrilling for them to learn his trade secrets as he shared them with the participants, while he was a student himself, seeking sponsorship for various college events. In an engaging dialogue, two student representatives pitched their proposal to Navneet, for their upcoming Inter – College fest, Umang. This gave the attendees immediate feedback as to what goes into sponsorship and how to approach a sponsor.
In the workshop, there were several opportunities for students to try their pitching skills, for which Prof. Meenakshi Chaturvedi, Coordinator (Commerce Morning) was invited to take the role of various company Heads. Prof. Chaturvedi made students learn the art of persuasion while talking to the sponsors and bringing something constructive to the table. With several students engaging in a unique pitch, each was shortlisted for the Umang Fest Sponsorship Team. The workshop became a self-learning experience for the students who were made to learn while doing.
After learning the know-how of how to seek sponsors the last phase was led by Ms. Khanduri who recapped the process of Sponsorship, from ideation to pitching a proposal and finally meeting the deliverables. The students were made aware of the terminologies used in seeking sponsorship and were given a holistic overview for their future pitches.
