The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized Saraswati Puja, in honor of the Hindu goddess Saraswati and to celebrate the festival of Vasant Panchmi. A day dedicated to the goddess of knowledge, language, music, and all art forms the college began the festivities at 9.00 am. The students began ushering in as they were adorned in vermillion colour attires & a sense of devotion to the Goddess. All members of Management, faculties & students assembled at the Turf and first paid homage to the idol of the goddess adorned beautifully with flowers and offerings.
By 10.00 am each attendee gathered to begin the Saraswati Samman Samaroh, a day to honor the teachers who are a form of the goddess herself. The anchor Anushka Mishra called upon the Classical team of Flames, to present a dance dedicated to the Goddess, officially opening the ceremony for the day. Soon after Prof. Dilip Shah, Rector & Dean of Student Affairs was called upon stage to address the audience & begin the felicitation of teachers who have written books & papers in several journals. Prof. Shah called upon the Vice Chairman of BESC, Mr. Miraj D Shah, to felicitate the teachers in the first phase.
Next in line was Shloka Recitation competition, which Prof. Shah called out to inculcate the importance of Sanskrit & its deep-rooted cultural significance for our country. The winner of the Shloka recitation was the young, Pratyush Kothari whose explicit recitation impressed all present. The second phase of the felicitation process began with Mr.Pradip Sheth, ex-officio member of the Governing Body of the BESC, with more than 30 teachers being felicitated for publishing their books & attaining Ph.D. This annual ceremony was yet again a grand success to celebrate those who are the real-life Saraswati for the students.
The next event after felicitation was the Shankh Vadak competition which was skillfully participated by Mr.Vijay Samanto, Mr. Subhendu Banerjee, Dr. Sampa Sinha Basu, all of whom blew shankh (conch), an age-old practice of awakening the divine presence of the goddess. The winner of this competition was Mr. Subhendu Banerjee, who blew the conch for more than 1.5 minutes. After this beautiful session ended, Smt. Renuka Bhatt, announced the winner of the Rangoli competition, Alefiyah Haji. The last of all the celebrations was announcing the best-dressed winners, which was done by Prof. Urvi Shukla as she skimmed through the students in hundreds to announce, Anjali Kamdar as the best-dressed Female & Anmol Prasad, as the best-dressed Male. The last in the queue was announcing the Best Dressed Teacher Male, who was Prof. Nitin Chaturvedi & the best-dressed female was given to Ms. Samiksha Khanduri.
The Saraswati Samman Samaroh ended with everyone proceeding to Mahaprasadam, which was served to all outside Valia hall. The event concluded with the students celebrating the day with dancing on a high note while the DJ played at the Turf. The day was indeed filled with devotion, joy & revelry with more than 500 students attending the ceremony.
