“Orientation” literally refers to a person’s basic attitude, beliefs, or feelings in relation to a particular subject or issue. The act of moulding such attitudes or beliefs, too, is widely referred to as Orientation and it is this moulding, that the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) seeks to impact, when it conducts a series of Orientation programmes each year as the new crew of freshers come in to be subjected to a lifestyle called The Bhawanipur. This year, even amongst the pandemic, the Bhawanipur made sure that there will be no exceptions and conducted the Orientation 2020 by streaming live on the YouTube and Facebook channels of the College on November 5,2020. The Orientation programme was held at two different time. At 11am for the incoming batch of 2020 of B. Com and at 5pm for the incoming batch of 2020 of BA, B.Sc and BBA students.
At the respective time, the students were personally welcomed via the live stream by Prof.Dilip Shah, Dean of Student Affairs. He spoke how the programme was divided into 4 sections: 1) Career Connect courses, 2) Collective Introduction, 3) Counselling and lastly 4) Introduction to the world of various sports and related activities.
The first section of Career Connect opened, as videos of different course instructors began briefing students about their respective courses and how can these courses help in their professional life. Before moving on to the next segment of collectives, there was a Q&A round wherein Prof. Vivek Patwari put forth the questions that were received in the chat box to Prof.Dilip Shah which he briefly answered and guided the freshers.
Prof.Dilip Shah then introduced the freshers to the various facilities that are available on campus. He talked about the spirit that is BESC – where achievements are only milestones that are to be achieved and surpassed. He talked at length about the unique philosophy of the institution that believes in freeing the young minds from the shackles that academic education in its simplest form forces them into. He also talked about how the college successfully imparts training in all the relevant subjects by making the minds receptive to the information being imparted, even as the students partake of activities they enjoy.
