The Bhawanipur Education Society College hosted a one-man play ‘Maa Mujhe Tagore Bana De’, in association with Shriek of Silence on 29th March 2023 at the Jubilee Hall. The play was performed by a traveling artist from Kashmir, Luckyjee Gupta. This play has had 1100-plus performances across India. The show commenced with an introductory speech by Suprovo Tagore, the Founder and Managing Director of Shriek of Silence. Eminent Art Critic Prof. Samik Bandhopadhay and Theater Practitioner, Nivedita Bhattacharya were among the other important personalities present at the show.
The play peeks into a child’s journey through his school years, discovering his love for poetry and art. It largely talks about social themes like parenting, class division, the importance of art in shaping society, and most importantly love for both one’s family and passion. It is very difficult for just one person to hold the attention of an audience for a long-time span but Luckyjee captivated everyone’s attention through his beautiful storytelling technique. Through his performance, he has tapped upon all the nine emotions of Navrasa. He made his spectators laugh, and feel surprised, ashamed, happy, disgusted, and sad, all through his one-man show!
By the end of his performance, he had successfully moved each individual present in the auditorium as they shed tears of love. More than 150 students attended the event. Toward the end of the performance the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, and Mrs. Ritwika Chaudhuri, the Creative Director of Shriek Of Silence were called up on stage to felicitate Luckyjee Gupta and conclude the show with a vote of thanks.
