The Bengali Department of Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a Nature’s Camp from 6th February to 9th February at Mathaburu Range, Purulia. The camp aimed to provide students with an immersive experience in nature while exploring the local culture, food, and demography of the region. A total of 15 students and one faculty member (Dr. Mili Samaddar) participated in this enriching expedition.
Activities Conducted
Throughout the four-day camp, participants engaged in various activities that fostered both academic and personal growth.
Trekking – Students undertook guided treks through the rugged terrain of the Mathaburu Range, experiencing the beauty of the landscape while learning about the local flora and fauna.
Local Food Exploration – The group enjoyed traditional Purulia cuisine, prepared by the locals, which provided an authentic taste of the region’s culinary heritage.
Cultural Interaction – Participants interacted with the indigenous communities, learning about their customs, traditions, and art forms, including the famous Chhau dance.
Demographic Mapping – A study of the local population was conducted, focusing on aspects such as livelihood, education, and socio-economic conditions.
Self-Development – One of the key observations during the camp was the personal growth and self-development of the students. Through teamwork, problem-solving, and adapting to a new environment, participants gained confidence, resilience, and a deeper appreciation for nature and cultural diversity.
