The Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) celebrated the Hindi Divas with full solemnity. Prof Vasundhara Mishra, renowned exponent of the National language set the tone of the event with her excellent deliberations, even as a hundred students sat mesmerized. The speech was followed by two recitations by students of the college.
A band performance was then put up by the students after which a scintillating classical dance piece was performed. The show stopper, however was a piece by the Enact – the theatre collective of the college, a moving rendition of the miseries brought about by the system of Dowries that transport us back to the dark ages as a people
Amish Tripathi, hugely popular author and the creator of the best-selling Shiva trilogy then took the microphone and had a candid conversation with the assembled students, answering all the queries with his characteristic élan that were directed to him from the floor.
Bishambhar Newar one of the most revered names from the world of language journalism and the founder-owner of the Chapte-Chapte group of publications was the honoured guest on the occasion. He encouraged the students to unfetter their minds and pursue their dreams, interspersing his speech with interesting anecdotes from his long and illustrious career.
Prof Dilip Shah, the Dean of student affairs of BESC concluded the proceedings with a short speech, in what else, but chaste Hindi.
