The NSS unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized the ‘Magic Box,’ its Signature Christmas Event, on December 21, 2023, at the Save the Children Home Thakurpukur. The event aimed to spread joy and bring happiness to the 180 children residing there, offering them better educational opportunities, healthcare, and improved economic prospects, facilitated by an international organization.
Twenty student volunteers, along with Prof. Gargi, NSS coordinator, arrived at the venue by 10 AM, making necessary arrangements and distributing food hampers and Santa Caps to the children.
The children were divided into groups of four and engaged in various games like Passing the Pass and Duck Duck Goose. Later, they congregated in a hall where girls sang songs and recited poems. An intriguing stall was set up, offering gifts to children without disclosing the contents, followed by the distribution of prizes. The event concluded with the felicitation of Pradeepji by Prof. Gargi.
The volunteers collected approximately ₹15,000 within a week, which was utilized to procure and wrap different gift items such as toys, water bottles, tiffin boxes, books, and chocolates for the children. Additionally, food hampers consisting of cake, chips, Frooti, chocolates, and biscuits, generously donated by college students and teachers, were distributed.
The volunteers cherished their rewarding experiences from the day, finding immense fulfillment in giving back to the community.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the NSS volunteers, management, and contributors for their unwavering support. Special thanks to Prof. Vivek Patwari, Prof. Urvi Shukla, Prof. Chandan Jha, Prof. Sayan Roy, Prof. Paramita Chakraborty, Prof. Sapna Mehta, the entire Umang Team, and all the students who actively participated in this noble cause. This event encapsulated our commitment to the NSS motto – “Not Me But You.”
