The Bhawanipur Education Society College in association with CK Birla Hospital which has both CMRI and BMB along with Amrit Varta Patrika, Gujarati daily from the eastern region organized a health checkup camp for faculty & a Seminar on Life style diseases for the students on the 19th of August 2015.
About 100 faculty members were a part of the medical camp which included test of Random Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure and Bone Mineral Density. It was followed by a Health Awareness Seminar for students. The speakers included Ms. Priyashi Roychoudhary , PR manager from CMRI, Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Sankar Sengupta, Chief of Quality and Academics, Mr. Anjan Das, Head-Growth & Development, CMRI, & Mr. Bhavain Patel.

It was an interactive session with the students. The discussion focusing on “Injuries and Exercise as Remedy” with Dr.Gaurav Gupta. He explained that a workout injury can happen to anyone, no matter your experience or fitness level. Even walking can cause an injury. But you can significantly cut your risk of getting hurt by following certain workout precautions.
It was followed with Dr Sankar Sengupta discussing the relation of, “Infectious Diseases and Adolescence.”
According to research, Schools and Colleges inherently foster the transmission of infections from person to person because they are a group setting in which people are in close contact. But, they also can be instrumental in keeping their communities healthy by
• Encouraging sick students and staff to stay home and seek medical attention for severe illness.
• Facilitating hand hygiene by supplying soap and paper towels and teaching good hand hygiene practices.
• Being vigilant about cleaning and disinfecting classroom materials and surfaces.
• Providing messages in daily announcements about preventing infectious disease.
• Adopting healthy practices such as safe handling of food and use of standard precautions when handling body fluids and excretions.
• Encouraging students and staff to get annual influenza vaccinations.
Above were few of the steps we all could take to promote Healthy Living.
Various other health problems faced by adolescence were discussed like depression, stress, Aids, heart, nutrition intake, eating disorders etc.
Thus, leading to the conclusion that “The Greatest Wealth is Health”.
