“Karoge yaad to har Baat yaad aayegi, Karoge yaad to har Baat yaad aayegi. Guzarate vaqt ki har Mauj thahar jaayegi Guzarate vaqt ki har Mauj thahar jaayegi. Karoge yaad to Ye chaand bite Zamano ka aaina hoga, Ye chaand bite Zamano ka aaina hoga, Bhatakte abra me Chehara koi banaa hoga”.
Reminiscing the memories of Khayyam, “storehouse of feelings, emotions and music” Crescendo, the music collective of the Bhawanipur Education Society College recently organised an event called “KHAYYAM KE BAHANE” on 9th September, 2019 at the Knowledge Resource Centre from 11:00 am onwards. Chayanika Samanta, a student of B.A History (Hons) as well as an enthusiastic member of Crescendo, the music collective of BESC, was introduced as the speaker by Anjali Dubey, the host of the said event.
The theme of the event as it is evident by the name itself focussed on the life and contribution of Khayyam in Bollywood. In the presence of Prof Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof Minakshi Chaturvedi and around 60 students the team Crescendo paid an ardent homage to Khayyam. Chayanika opened her speech with a beautiful poem in sweet remembrance of Khayyam Sahab and then started her speech highlighting the life of Khayyam. Mohammed Zahur Khayyam Hashmi (18 February 1927 – 19 August 2019), better known unanimously as Khayyam, was an Indian music director and background score composer whose career spanned four decades.
In between the session, members of Crescendo hypnotised everyone present there with their doleful rendition. Sourav Goswami, the music faculty of Crescendo moved everyone with his baritone voice singing “Subah kabhi to ayegi”, “Phir Chhiri raat phoolon ki” was sung by Dr Rekha. The performances left a lingering effect through which his contribution in Indian Cinema was remembered and relived. The poetic and lyrical ambience was perfectly in sync with the atmosphere. With one of the greatest compositions of Khayyam “Dil Cheez kya hai” the curtain was drawn with everyone congratulating the CRESCENDO team for such wonderful initiative.
