‘When the well is dry, we know the worth of water.’
To celebrate World Environment Day, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College re-launched the “Jal se Jeevan” project, emulating NSS’s actual motto, “Not Me, But You.”
The World Environment Day is celebrated to raise global awareness to positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet earth. The NSS unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College came together to pledge towards building a better planet. The day was flagged off by pouring water on a plant. Dean of student affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah elaborated the “Jal se Jeevan” Project and discussed the simple ways of saving water. He also spoke about project was initially launched in 2017, where students of the college with professional plumbers visited neighbourhood residences to offer free services to ensure the stoppage of leaking faucets and taps. With the aim of raising public awareness for water issues and its conservation.
An eminent Kolkata-based environmentalist Ms. Smita Bhatter, who founded “BySmita” which provided sustainable, eco-friendly gifting solutions brand since 2018 spoke about sustainability and environmental management. Ms. Bhatter spoke about key facts about water and significance of water conservation.
Prof. Urvi Shukla conducted an Environmental Quiz in the interactive session. The idea was to spread awareness about environment, ecology & biodiversity.
To initiate the “Jal se Jeevan” project 30 students enthusiastically participated in a poster making competition. Out of all innovative posters, students secured the following positions:2nd Runner up: Dhruvi Chowhan & Kahkashant Tabassum
1st Runner up: Rajshree
Winner: Siddharth Mahato
All the winners were felicitated with “Grow it Yourself” kit.
The purpose of re-launching of “Jal se Jeevan” aims to inspire students to drive action toward a healthy planet for the prosperity of all.
