With this aim, The NSS unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College every year organizes a new Chapter of ‘Jal se Jeevan’ drive to save water and set higher goals. This year the student volunteers visited the residents of different locations throughout Kolkata with professional plumbers and offered free service to ensure the stoppage of leaking taps and spread the knowledge on how to save, store, and consume clean water and be safe from diseases like dengue & malaria.
The drive had 5 teams consisting of 2 volunteers along with a plumber who went to different locations of North and South Kolkata both and covered 1117 houses despite continuous poor weather conditions. The students went to the following areas:
Day 1 (11.09.2023) – Shyambazar, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Girish Park, Bhawanipur, Tollygunge, Kalighat – visited 170 residences.

Last year volunteers visited 850 residences in total and this year proudly we have overcome our own goals and covered 1117 houses in total.
The initiative aimed to create a sense of responsibility amongst the youth and make people aware of the importance of water and how to save it. All the volunteers relished their experiences from the days. We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the volunteers for their dedicated efforts, as well as to the programme officer, Prof. Gargi, for her role in initiating such noble campaigns.
