Stage fright, trembling before the long speech, backing off because of nervousness is a very common factor. Not only does it destroy our dreams, but also restrains people from speaking out their ideas.
The vox populi collective hosted a workshop conducted by Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, former journalist, professional public speaking figure, quiz master and well-known theatre personality.
The workshop was orchestrated in our college society hall which lasted for three days from 12 November 2021 – 14th November 2021. It was an interactive session where the participants learnt about the vocational pointers, on-site questionnaires, and occasional humour in between. Attendees were given topics to speak, debate and write on, a day prior, sometimes even a few minutes beforehand. Day-One covered the tips and tricks of public speaking. Day-Two was mainly about the description of sub-events and breaking it down to the participants. Day-Three, was on-site speaking, debating and other activities which helped the organisers to shortlist the participants for the college fest.
The idea behind the workshop was to make the participants ready for the inter-college fest, communiqué.
Overall, it was a huge success, with happy, smiling, and confident students restored with dramatic, measurable improvements in communication skills, not only feeling prepared for the next public speaking situation but looking forward to it.
