January 18th – 20th, 2019. IIM Joka. Carpe Diem is the annual cultural fest of IIM Calcutta. It has grown tremendously over the years to become one of the most anticipated college fests of the city and being the first in the calendar, naturally holds a special attraction. Besides, as management institutions go, the IIM C has a place of its own which is also reflected in the quality of participation, the thought that goes behind the planning and the execution of the different events and the overall look and feel of the fest.
But it was another day at the campus for the BESC participants, who are so used to winning – turning to gold everything that they touch – and such is the level of their preparedness that no special efforts are needed, even for high profile events like the Carpe Diem.
The BESC team which participated in Carpe Diem, literally “seized the day” by participating in seven of the top-billed events of the fest – Street play, Mimicry, Raagmala, Solo Dance (2), PubG and Fashion Show. BESC’s domination of the fest can be gauged from the fact that out of the seven events participated in, BE-ites took the top slot straight in five events.
The BESC team added to its tally by ranking second in mimicry apart from winning the Best Designer slot and that of the Best Male Model in the fashion sow category, taking the medals tally to an impressive level.
Not a bad way to start the new calendar year – by being right at the top!
