The Bhawanipur Education Society College hosted a Financial Literacy Workshop on the 17th of August 2015 at 6th floor auditorium, under the collective of “Bulls Eye” in collaboration with Calcutta Management Association and Calcutta Stock Exchange.
Eminent speakers like Mrs.Sripriya Senthilkumar, Mr.Manoj Garg, Mrs.Farha Zeba graced the occasion with their rich knowledge on the subject.
Ms. Sripriya Senthilkumar, Deputy General Manager, Stock Exchange Operations Calcutta Stock Exchange is a professional with more than 23 years in the field of capital market, she inspired the students by briefing the students about what actually is “Investment” and what does “right investment ” signifies?
Mrs. Farha Zeba, Founder member of Value You (A Training & Educational Company), is a NSE Certified Market Professional (NCMP), Certified Trainer, a Commerce Graduate enriched with 11 years of Core Banking & AMC experience spanning from Kotak Securities, IDBI Bank, Standard Chartered Bank to Tata Mutual Fund. She shared her experience in the domain of Financial Market. She interacted and briefed students about the securities and capital market.
Mrs.Farha has also served as an editor of Simply You, a monthly financial newsletter. She also touched topics of SIP investments, insurance market, focusing on the point that Indian people take Insurance as an investment, rather than to safe guard their priorities in life.
Students were also motivated and explained the benefits of health insurance policies that benefits the policy holder and allows the policy holder to stand still in the phase of high inflationary rate and high cost of medical amenities.
Mr. Manoj Garg, NISM CPE Trainer, CPFA, MBA took over the dias. He has an experience of over 21 years in the Banking & Finance Industry. He has worked as a Zonal Head – Investment Division in ICICI Bank & IDBI Bank and as a Regional Vice President (East) of Tata Mutual Fund, thereby obtaining an exhaustive & in-depth knowledge in all aspects of Financial Industry. Now associated with Value You as a Partner in Training & Education. Mr. Garg is now an authorized speaker of Calcutta Stock Exchange & a faculty in the Calcutta University – CSE Centre of Excellence in Financial Markets (CUCSE-CEFM).
Mr. Garg explained the students about the benefits of Investments. He formulated the idea of turning savings into investment by pitching it in a right considerable way so that the savings is shown the right path to fight with future value of money and inflationary rate. He explained that as per a research study, an Indian saves around ten percent of his money out of which majority of people opt for wrong investment plans due to poor knowledge in capital market. He expressed his sorrow that out of such a huge Indian population, only 2% people are dealing in capital market.
Mr. Garg interacted with students and answered to their queries. Later the students were divided into four member team and around 15 teams were formed who participated in the stock quiz, conducted by the guest faculties. The session ended with offering of momentoes’ to the guest facilities by the students of winning teams. Overall it was an interactive knowledge sharing session.
