An invited lecture on ‘Financial Literacy’ was organized by the Students’ Activities Committee (Afternoon and Evening Section) of the Department of Commerce, UG, on the 5th of April, 2023. The event took place in Room No. 129A, on the first floor. The keynote speaker for the lecture was Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Kumar Sana. A total of 147 students and 18 faculty members attended the lecture.
The invited lecture commenced at 2:30 p.m. on the 5th of April, 2023, with an inauguration followed by a welcome address by Ms. Sukanya Chatterjee. Thereafter, Dr. Subhabrata Ganguly, the Teacher-in-Charge, The BESC, delivered the opening address, extending a warm welcome to Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Kumar Sana, Department of Commerce, University of Calcutta, and setting the stage for the discussions on financial literacy.
Ms. Chatterjee took the opportunity to introduce Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Kumar Sana as the keynote speaker. She provided an overview of his extensive expertise in the field of financial literacy, highlighting his academic achievements and professional experience.
Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Kumar Sana initiated the lecture by emphasizing the significance of financial literacy and its profound impact on individuals and society as a whole. He delved into various aspects of financial literacy, including budgeting, saving, investing, and financial planning. Furthermore, he shared practical tips and strategies for enhancing financial well-being.
Throughout the lecture, Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Kumar Sana actively engaged the audience through interactive discussions and real-life examples. He attentively addressed their queries and offered valuable insights into the subject of financial literacy.
Concluding the lecture, an interactive session was conducted by Ms. Chatterjee, allowing the students to further discuss and clarify concepts related to financial literacy.
The event culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Paramita Chakravarty, Coordinator of M.Com at The BESC, expressing appreciation to the management, TIC, VP, and HOD (Afternoon & Evening Section), as well as the resource person, colleagues, organizing committee members, and students for their presence and active participation.
Participants were provided with a feedback form, and they were encouraged to fill it out and submit it to receive their certificates. Ms. Gargi Das, the joint-coordinator of the Students’ Activities Committee (Afternoon and Evening Section), played a significant role in organizing the event and ensuring its success.
