‘Music is the Voice of the Soul and can Move Mountains.’ – Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
Some songs have a way of transporting you to a particular moment or location in your life. As a result, in addition to the emotions that music naturally evokes in us, we also experience a nostalgic attachment to it.
The Bhawanipur Education Society College hosted Euphonious’ 22, an intercollegiate Musical Festival, on September 28, 2022 from 9:30 AM till 6:30 PM. The Concept Hall and Jubilee Hall on the college campus is where this event was organised which Crescendo put together so elegantly. The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, inaugurated the event by giving an enthusiastic speech to the participating students and showcasing his talents as an incredible pianist. The college invited numerous personalities to help choose the deserving individuals and develop their skills, including Kaustav Banerjee, Srijita Konar, Saurabh Chaturvedi (Dil Fake), Amandi Singha (Captain Singh A), and Sourav Chakraborty.
This musical festival featured performances from a number of colleges from all across Kolkata, including Jadavpur University, Institute of Engineering and Management, THK Jain College, Shivanath Shashtri College, Shri Shikshayatan College, The Heritage College, and others. The college students organised a total of eight competitions, and the Home Team (BESC) and Jadavpur University shared first place as the overall victors while Heritage College was placed second.
Below is a list of these eight occurrences:
Solo Eastern: In this Anuskha Ghosh of THK Jain College stood First ,Sayan Gayen of Jadavpur University stood Second and Sreeja Nayak of The Heritage College stood Third.
Solo Western: In this round Srija Paul of Shri Shikshayatan College came First, Sayan Gayen of Jadavpur was awarded the Second place and Pooja Das of Prafulla Chandra College was placed Third.
Solo Instrumental: In this event Saheel Ahmed of The Bhawanipur College won the First Position,Simanta Halder of Jadavpur University came Second and Dibyadanshi Das of Indian Institute of Engineering and Management stood Third.
Solo Rap:Ankit Dixit of Jadavpur University stood First followed by Aryan Naseem of The Bhawanipur College.
Solo Bollywood:In this event Jeet Basak of The Heritage College ranked First, Madhurima Guha of THK Jain College came Second and Subhalakshmi Majumdar of The Bhawanipur stood Third.
Eastern Group: In this round Jadavpur University stood First followed by Indian Institute of Engineering and Management.
Western Band: Devang Nagar,Supratim Sardar,Baibhav Ghosh, Paraj Kumar Dasof The Bhawanipur College won the First Prize followed by Indian Institute of Engineering and Management which stood Second.
Bollywood Band: Subhalaxmi Majumdar,Madhura Purkayastha,Devang Nagar,Supratim Sardar,Paraj Das and Baibhav Ghosh of The Bhawanipur College stood First and Jadavpur University came Second.
Rahul Jagpal displayed his talents by amusing the audience with his rapping skills after Dil Fake and Captain Singh made a special guest performance, which caused the crowd to go berserk. Additionally, we saw our Principal Guests Kaustav Sir and Srijita Ma’am perform live on stage while using their incredible vocals. Along with magnificent ghazals and slokas like “Mangalam Bhagwan Vishnu” and Ragas like “Raag Bhairavi,” participants sang Bollywood songs like Kesariya, Saiyaan, Dua, Pehla Nasha, Barishein, etc. The participants sang a variety of Western songs, including Lovely, Shallow, Unstoppable, Girl Crush, feeling good, My heart will go on, etc. With his rendition of the song Man in the Mirror, Theo from Bhawanipur College mesmerised the audience. Metal music was performed live on the spot by the Crescendo representative Shwetank Singh using his outstanding guitar talents. Arpita Biswas of Bhawanipur, who was not participating, received tremendous support from the audience as she sang passionately. Sreya Kumari Gupta, Prachita Roy, Srishti Jhunjhunwala, Tushitaa Chughani, Mayank Sharma, Payal Rajak, and Taiba Mohsin served as the event’s anchors and contributed their all to make it a grand success. Arka Mukherjee, Anisha Nuwal, and Harshita Bhartiya served as our photographers to capture Euphonious’ unforgettable performances.
Following the uplifting and exhilarating performance at Euphonious, the audience left with renewed vigor and smiles on their faces.
