Young students with a vision and ambition to succeed and driven by their dreams to be a successful entrepreneur thronged the venue on the first day of the Entrepreneurship Development Program organized by The Bhawanipur College from the 18th to 21st of August 2014. The speaker on day 1 of the program was Mr. Bharat Baid, an alumnus of the Bhawanipur College along with Ms Rupanjana De; who both spoke on entrepreneurship& entrepreneurial start-ups. He also spoke about the requisites of a successful entrepreneur and how one could develop skills to become a good entrepreneur. Using phrases like “Success is all about respecting and celebrating failure” he said that in order to be a successful businessman one needs to see failures. Emphasizing on the need to respect time he said that it was important for the students to start putting a price on their time and start developing a death bed mentality. At this age it is of utmost importance that pupils start dedicating their time in nurturing and developing skills which would come in handy at the time when they start business of their own.
The session was an interactive one where students were very participative and engaged in questions with the dignitary. They clarified their views on business and about entrepreneurship. One interesting fact that came out during the session from Mr. Baidwas that in the year 1940 India had trade surplus. In the end he focused on the fact that it is important to have a professional attitude in order to be a successful entrepreneur. He motivated the students and asked them to keep believing in themselves.
Day 2: Tuesday, August 19
Mr. Ramesh Narayan took the stage on Day 2 of the Entrepreneurship Development Program (E.D.P.) and spoke on the Legal aspect of entrepreneurship.
Mr. Narayan spoke on how good and effective entrepreneurs can stop the growing scams that have engulfed the country. He emphasized on the fact that the most important asset in business isn’t capital but one’s social life and his health.
As most of us know that a country or a company is governed by laws but in certain situations and certain cases laws fail and then loopholes emerge out of the blue. It is at that very moment where people start to feel inferior and get demotivated but they should have a fighting spirit. One should believe in himself and back himself at those situations.
Day 3: Wednesday, August 19
The 3rd seminar on E.D.P morning session was conducted by Mr. ARIF AHMED, a renowned professor and the director of South Asian Management Accounts of India. He has also been associated with XLRI. His main motive behind conducting this seminar was to give the upcoming entrepreneurs a vivid description of the steps for preparing an effective Project Report which would give them an suitable foundation to go ahead. He focused on the on topics like “developing a plan or an idea” and at the same time we should think of its relevance and marketing. The basic idea was to understand the consumer’s problem and this is what will felicitate the development of a plan. The students were fascinated to discover such unknown facts about entrepreneurship.
Mr. ARIF AHMED was of view that having an idea and developing a product is necessary but what matters the most for an entrepreneur is to have the ability to sell the product, if he/she is unable to market his/her plan then all the efforts were of no use.MR. ARIF’s interactive sessions and questions were of great help to the students, the students had a positive response to the seminar, thus the seminar was of great success.
The Afternoon Session was conducted by Ms. Veena Hinger to enlighten students about the details of preparing a Project report, the technicalities involved, Market Prospects, environmental aspects to be considered, the profitability targeted etc. It was a knowledgeable session loading students with the practical aspects involved.
Day 4: Thursday, August 21
The Bhawanipur College had organized an Entrepreneurship Development Programme for its students in association with EMPRETEC ,a UN program established by the United Nations Conference On trade And Development (UNCTAD).The programme was a morale booster for those students who are aspiring to be an entrepreneur or pursue a career in entrepreneurship. VivekAgarwal, a 3rd year student of Bhawanipur College was the programmefelicitator and the chief speaker for the day was Mr. ArnabChakraborty, the National Director of UNCTAD in India. He is an ex-banker and now he is involved with UNCTAD to promote the concept of entrepreneurship in India.
The seminar was completely student oriented and had several interactive sessions, where Mr. Arnab had some fascinating questions for the students; they actively participated contributing to the innovative ideas and answers. Students were thrilled to discover some unknown facts about “competency and skill”.
Towards the end of the seminar Vivek shared his experience as an Entrepreneur; his story was truly an inspiration for the upcoming entrepreneurs. Mr. Arnab invited and encouraged the students who want to be Associated Program felicitators for EMPRETEC and take the first step in their journey of entrepreneurship.

The Bhawanipur College had organized an Entrepreneurship Development Programme for its students in association with NIESBUD. The program was a morale booster for those students who are aspiring to be an entrepreneur or pursue a career in entrepreneurship with details with regard to Market Survey and the various Governments Schemes available for start-ups. The seminar was conducted by Mr. Dharam Singh a representative from Government of India, who showed the youth, the procedure to be followed if he/she is aspiring to be an entrepreneur. The chief speaker of the day was Mr. Debasish Ghosh .
Mr. Ghosh in his speech, focused on about how a young and aspiring entrepreneur should go about and how he/she should start his proceedings. The seminar had a power point presentation which narrated the life on Mr. Sanjeev Bhikchandani, the founder of one the most leading web portal ‘Naukri.com’. His story from being an aspiring entrepreneur to one of the leading entrepreneur in India was fascinating for the students. Mr. Ghosh’s interactive sessions with the students added positivity to the session. Mr. Ghosh announced an upcoming competition in the campus where the students with most innovative entrepreneurship ideas will be rewarded.
The seminar ended with a healthy interaction between the students and the advisors, the students had a positive response to the seminar and thus the program was a success.
