BE-ites – students of the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) are seldom “clue-less”, go-getting achievers that they are. Perhaps to challenge this very complacency, BESC organises one of its toughest and most eagerly awaited events – Campus Clues.
As is the norm, participating students who had formed themselves in teams of threes, assembled in the Concept Hall where the rules of the game were explained to them after which the first set of clues were handed over. The concept is simple – students are expected to break the codes / clues / jumbled hints to reach the earmarked spot within the campus where the next set of codes await them. The team that reaches the final destination first, by breaking all the codes and putting all the pieces of the puzzle in place, is declared the winners.
It is by no means a mean task considering the highly cryptic clues that given. This year in all 20 teams participated in the event and naturally it was sheer pandemonium of the most delightful kind with some participants raking their brains, while others were already running to what they thought was the answer to the clues given while even others were seen to be completely lost, overwhelmed into numbness. Heated arguments and cold logic were both being thrown about in gay abandon as BESC went about doing what it does best – enjoying itself. In the end, the Team “What’s in a Name”, comprising of Shreya Jaiswal, Pooja Jalan and Yours truly (Russian Bose) emerged victorious, having been there, done that (the breaking). The event ended with the explanation of all the clues to the participants (and the audience who just couldn’t have enough of it). Prof Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student Affairs of BESC explained how Campus Clues was originally thought of as a fun way to familiarise the freshers with the nooks and corners of the campus and how, since then, it has grown year on year to reach its current avatar. He hailed all the teams that had participated and gave away the winner’s trophy to the members of What’s in a Name after hailing Gautam Bahoria, an ex-student of the college for preparing this season’s clues. (This report has been filed by Russian Bose of the Expressions Collective of the BESC)
