A webinar on “A Journey Towards Positivity” was organized by the Department of Commerce, UG (Afternoon and Evening Section) on 28th of June, 2021 for the students of the Evening Section, using the Google Meet platform. The keynote speakers for the webinar were Dr. Suddhasatwya Chatterjee (Senior Physician, Department of International Medicine and Rheumatology, Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals Limited Kolkata), Ms. Chaitali Das (Internationally acclaimed Social Entrepreneur, Jute Revivalist) and Mr. Bikram Kumar Das (State Engagement Officer, NSDC). About a 100 participants comprising keynote speakers, faculty members and students of the Evening section of the Department of Commerce attended the webinar.
The webinar commenced at 5 p.m. on 28th of June, 2021, with an inauguration followed by a welcome address by Prof. Arundhati Mazumder. Thereafter Dr. Joyeta Bhadhury delivered the opening address. She welcomed the keynote speakers, enlightened the participants about the psychological and physiological impact of the pandemic on the population at large and set the ball rolling for the discussions of the day.
On that note, Prof. Debdutta Sen was invited to introduce the first speaker, Dr. Suddhasatwya Chatterjee for the evening. Prof. Sen fittingly introduced the speaker, mapping his career in the medical field, the prestigious posts that he holds, publications to his name and his former work.
Dr. Chatterjee explained the physiology of human beings, the concept of well-being, the process of achieving physiological well-being, barriers in the way of achieving physiological well-being and the means of overcoming the barriers. He highlighted the importance of good food and nutrition, adequate sleep and rest, good personal and social hygiene, exercise, yoga and focused on mental health to overcome the lasting pandemic.
Following Dr. Chatterjee’s presentation, Prof. Dipankar Bhattacharya conducted an interactive session with Dr. Chatterjee.
Thereafter, Prof. Ria Saha was invited to introduce the second speaker, Ms. Chaitali Das. Prof.Saha introduced the speaker, her social work, association with projects and conferences, the awards she has earned and the prestigious positions she held.
Ms. Chaitali Das focused on stress management and emotional well-being during the pandemic. She talked about the physical symptoms of stress and discussed strategies to recognize and manage stress.
Prof. Debdutta Sen was then invited to introduce the third speaker Mr. Bikram Kumar Das. Mr. Das has worked in various government sectors related to the skilling industry. He is currently working as a State Engagement Officer at the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
Mr. Bikram Kumar Das elaborated on the contributions of the NSDC towards skill development as well as its proposed special projects, schemes and initiatives. He advised the youth of today to undertake apprenticeship training rather than internships because high quality apprentices are in demand in today’s employment scenario.
At the end of the webinar, Prof. Dipankar Bhattacharya conducted an interactive session with the second and third speakers.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Atreyee Ganguly. She thanked the Management, IQAC, TIC, HOD (Afternoon & Evening Section), all the dignitaries, colleagues, organizing committee members and students for their gracious presence, relentless help and participation.
The link of the feedback form was also shared so that participants could fill in and submit the same to receive their e-certificates.

The third and final keynote speaker, Mr. Bikram Kumar Das elaborated on the contributions of the NSDC towards skill development as well as its proposed special projects, schemes and initiatives (WorldSkills, JuniorSkills and others). He also advised the youth of today to undertake apprenticeship training to be well equipped for the demanding employment scenario. At the end of the webinar, an interactive session was conducted. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Atreyee Ganguly.
