Session 1 – To allow the students to have a comparative understanding of the past and present Criminal Laws of India.
Session 2 – To enable the students to have a thorough knowledge and information about the nuances of cyber security and how to tackle the threats of cyber crime.
Brief description of the event:
The Department of Political Science organises a seminar on Democratic Awareness through Legal Literacy in two sessions.
Session 1 was conducted by Smt. Soma Kar Ghosh,Advocate, Calcutta High Court. The session dealt with a detailed evaluation of the past and present criminal laws of India. She talked about the changes that have come in the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023.
Session 2 was conducted by Smt. Pranati Saha, Deputy Superintendent of Police, CID, West Bengal. The session 2 was on Awareness on Cyber Fraud. The session dealt with a detailed presentation on types of cyber crime and also the techniques to check and control the dangers of cyber crime. Smt. Saha shared with the students many instances of cyber crime and also pointed out that the best way to tackle such instances is to spread awareness among the people so that they become alert and careful about such incidents
Outcome of the event:
Session 1 – The session was very insightful and students attentively participated in the session.
Session 2 – The session was very informative and students showed active participation in the session.
