The Department of Political Science in collaboration with West Bengal Political Science Association (WBPSA), organized the 22nd Annual Conference of the Association and an International Seminar on “75 Years of Indian Republic” on 21st and 22nd June 2024. The event was graced by the august presence of renowned scholars and academicians like Prof. Arun Kumar Banerjee, Prof. Prakash Sarangi, Prof. Muqtedar Khan, Prof. Shibaji Pratim Basu amongst others. The inaugural session commenced with the welcome address delivered by Dr. Subhabrata Gangopadhyay, Teacher-In-Charge. The inaugural session was concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Amala Dhandhania, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science. The two day seminar provided a platform for the young scholars and academicians to reflect upon the political processes, institutions and foreign policy dynamics of India after 75 years of independence. They presented their ideas in five parallel sessions based on five themes:
1.Debates on Indian Republicanism,
2.Political Institutions and Process in India,
3.India and the Globalized World,
4.Constitution and Constitutionalism
5.Discourses on Welfare State.
The two day International Seminar was followed by the Annual General Meeting of the Association.The meeting opened with the felicitation of the President, Professor Panchanan Chattopadhyay and Secretary, Professor Apurba Mohan Mukhapadhyay of WBPSA by Amala Dhandhania on behalf of the department of Political Science. The entire event was anchored by Dr. Debanjana Chakravarti, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science.
