Art In Me also known as AIM held a spell bee competition on 6th of august 2015. The session started with an overview of what the collective AIM encompasses. In the introductory part events under AIM were discussed. The most popular event under AIM; Nexus the intra college business fest and Communiqué the inter-college academic meet were thoughts meet expression held in the month of September and November were discussed. It was followed by a power point presentation which included the introduction and objectives of AIM, also activities like jam and vertez, book review, live reporting, extempore etc.
The second session included the spell bee competition divided into two rounds – prelims and the mains. In the first round students were to write the spellings of 20 words called out by the student coordinators. The students scoring the highest marks qualified for the final round. In the final round the students were divided into 5 teams, each team consisting of two members and was divided into 2 sets .In the first spellings were asked to students and in the second set students had to choose a subject of his/her own choice and from that subject spellings were asked. The subjects included biology, chemistry and geography.
After the competition students winning the spell bee competition were given gifts. The spell bee ended on a high note with pictures being clicked of the winning participants. Also the future activities lined up under the collective.
The Bhawanipur Education Society College under the banner of Yi Bhawanipur Chaupal conducted an industrial visit to Greenply Plywood on the 12th of September. A group of around 38 students visited the factory, accompanied by Prof. Kaushik Chatterjee.
The College’s collective Vox Populi organised a debate session for the newbies! The students were given the topic “I was born intelligent, education made me a fool.” The present system of education somehow hinders students to think beyond the facts.
