The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a splendid Orientation-Visa on Arrival event, which was followed by each collective conducting their respective inductions to foster connections and acquaint new students with the various college communities. The inductions took place from August 17th to August 26th, 2023, captivating the newbies in the college. NCC – The National Cadet Corps (NCC) held an induction ceremony for the new batch of students on August 17, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. in the Concept Hall on the 6th floor. Ex-cadet Subhadip Saha Chowdhury anchored the event and explained each wing in detail, helping students make informed decisions about which branch to join. The 100 students who attended the Induction also had the opportunity to ask questions about how NCC activities would affect their studies and class schedules.
BESC AON – On August 17th from 2:00 pm onwards the AON induction was conducted in Concept Hall delving into the intricate aspects of Model United Nations (MUNs). The participants were immersed in a comprehensive understanding of the essence of MUNs, the responsibilities they entail for participants, and, notably, the profound impact they exert on personal growth. The event garnered significant interest, with an attendance of nearly 80 participants. The induction event unfolded by meticulously elucidating the essence of MUNs, shedding light on their role as platforms for diplomatic simulation and cross-cultural exchange.
BEST – This event was conducted on August 18th from 11:00 a.m. at the Jubilee Hall. The event commenced with the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah delivering an introductory speech, covering topics such as business operations, startups, and strategies for generating income. A fascinating auction demonstration followed, where he illustrated turning 100 Rs into 200 Rs. He then elaborated on the associated risks. Students of the collective subsequently shared their real-world business experiences and insights into their startups. The event saw an attendance of 350+. An interactive activity involving the auction concept added an engaging touch to the induction, which was then followed by a session on Risk Management by Mr. Jayant Palan.
NSS (National Social Service) – On August 21st the NSS (National Social Service) unit engineered an induction program from 12:00 noon at the Concept Hall. The induction aimed at warmly embracing the incoming first-year students while offering them an overview of the year-long activities they engage in. The event was inaugurated with a speech by Prof. Gargi, the NSS Coordinator, who set the tone for the proceedings. Subsequently, Prof. Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student Affairs, took the stage to brief the students about the significance and the corresponding responsibilities it entails. As a part of the induction, an insightful seminar conducted by Teach for India further enriched the event. Notably, the event garnered an impressive attendance of over 350 students, signifying their keen interest and enthusiasm.
ECO-FOR-BE-ITES – The induction for this collective was held on August 21st from 11:00 a.m. The session began with an exploration of the collective, Eco-For-Beites. The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, shared insights and engaged participants in an auction activity. The discussion extended to the stock market, with an ex-representative providing a compelling explanation using the analogy of demand and supply, illustrated through a crush. Engaging interactions followed as students posed questions about marketing, stocks, research, and development. A total of 80+ students participated in the session.
CELLULOID – The induction for the Celluloid collective was held on August 21st 2023 where 150 students were inducted. The event featured empowering speeches from the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, Mr.Suprovo Ganguly (mentor of Celluloid), and collective representatives. The essence of celluloid, including aspects like cinematography and dialogue writing, was explained through a short film presentation. The event concluded with a promise of upcoming workshops, offering valuable learning opportunities to the attendees.
EXPRESSIONS – The induction for Expressions was held on August 22nd, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Jubilee Hall. This collective with two verticals of reporting & photography conducted an induction to brief the students about the various platforms that students can contribute to the college. With about 50 student reporters & 50 student photographers, willing to be trained, the collective saw the future reporters & photographers in the induction. The atmosphere buzzed with creativity as students took the stage to showcase their literary talents, in the form of poems, anecdotes & self-expressions. The Expressions newsletter, web blog writing & photography for all the events of the college are what the students will be trained for next.
QUIZZARD – The Quizzard collective induction was held on August 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in Society Hall. With the revival of our quizzing collective, with over 20 attendees, the initial response may have been modest, but the determination to propel this collective to new heights remains unwavering. The event commenced with fervor as the students embarked on this exciting journey. The session was kicked off by discussing the significance of quizzing in the realm of knowledge and shared learning. A series of stimulating rounds ensued, testing the participants with engaging discussions. The quizzing session not only kindled the participants with a competitive spirit but also fostered excitement while the attendees brainstormed for answers.
VOX POPPULI – With more than 300 students at the Jubilee Hall, the induction for VOX was held on August 22nd from 2:00 p.m. onwards. The induction was an energetic show put up by the student representatives who engaged the audience in fun & exciting ways. The students were thrilled to showcase the power of their voice in various prompts like the hot potato game and by a JAM 9Just a Minute) session. The students shared their personal experiences & were thereafter given an opportunity to be part of college events through various platforms like formal/ informal anchoring, debating, storytelling, etc.
STUDENTS SHARE SKILL – On August 23rd at 2:00 p.m. the induction for Students Share Skill Collective was held at Jubilee Hall. The collective saw 100+ students being inducted into the idea of sharing any skill that they could share with other fellow students. The collective gave each future student mentor to showcase their future skill sets by taking the stage. The next batch of students sharing skills was introduced with a new set of skills like chess, mono-act, dance, garba-dandiya, etc. that will be taught by student mentors to their fellow batchmates.
SETU – The induction for SETU was held on August 23rd from 11:00 a.m. in Jubilee Hall. The collective witnessed an impressive turnout of about 100 students. The crowd actively engaged and interacted throughout the session. Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, Coordinator B.com, (Morning) encouraged students to demonstrate their proficiency in foreign languages by asking them the meaning of common phrases in German and Japanese. Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah discussed previous successful events, like the Student Exchange Program involving Korean students visiting the Bhawanipur campus and the students vouching for an enriching experience in Switzerland. The Global Village is another event that showcases an array of cultures from around the world. The students were then informed about the next event, Career Cafe slated for 26th and 27th September 2023.
FLAMES – On August 24th at 11:00 a.m. an exciting buzz was heard all around the college, with students gearing up in queues for Flames Induction in Jubilee Hall. The three vibrant wings of Flames – Bollywood, Eastern, and Western took the stage, sharing insights into their activities, mentors, and regular classes. The excitement soared as the wings showcased their unique performing styles. An exciting interactive activity ensued, inviting the audience to groove to the current Bollywood hit,’Jhumka Gira Re’. The spirit of Navratri came alive as the crowd actively participated in a spirited round of Garba. The stage saw both the audience and budding FLAMES members unite for a showcase, beautifully reflecting their shared passion for dance. With over 400 attendees, the response was overwhelmingly positive.
FASHIONISTA – On August 24th the fashion collective of the college held their induction in Concept Hall from 12:00 noon. With the motivating introduction setting the tone, the mesmerizing Geraldine Russel Ray (Mentor of Fashionista) gracefully presented the induction in which the entire hall pulsated with energy as more than 120 students took the stage. The runway transformed into a captivating avenue where both existing and new members. dazzled with their jaw-dropping ramp walk. The students would then be trained further for the college events based on their collective’s training.
ART-IN-ME – On August 25th at 2:00 p.m. the Induction of Art in Me Collective was held at Concept Hall. The session was initiated by introducing their creative collective followed by a treasure hunt game in which participants deciphered riddles to uncover bags filled with art supplies and creative prompts. Divided into groups of four among a crowd of 90-100, the engaging and enthusiastic individuals showcased their creativity and excitement for future events.
ENACT– On August 26th at 2:00 p.m. the induction for Enact collective was held in Jubilee Hall. Stepping into the world of ENACT, the theater collective was an experience that redefined creativity and interaction. With an impressive turnout of over 150 participants, the atmosphere buzzed with energy as they delved into an array of activities and engaging theatrical games. From captivating performances to showcasing the finest plays, the event resonated, ensuring a memorable time for everyone.
CRESCENDO – On August 26th the collective Crescendo orchestrated the induction in Jubilee Hall from 11:00 a.m., drawing the participation of over 200 attendees. Both junior and senior students showcased their talents, providing everyone a platform to exhibit their vocal and instrumental skills, such as playing the flute and harmonica. The event resonated with enjoyment as everyone joined in, harmonizing the tunes, and offering mutual support. The Representatives and the Ex- Representatives were seen boosting their morale while picking students from the audience to get on the stage!
BULL’S EYE – On August 26th the induction for Bull’s Eye collective was held in Concept Hall. The event started with a succinct speech about the stock market & its intricacies that provided valuable insights, followed by a discussion about the collective’s future plans, creating anticipation among participants. Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah’s speech enriched the discourse with an introduction to the Dynamics of Capital Markets course details which deepened attendees’ understanding. The event concluded with a Question and Answers session, fostering engagement and knowledge exchange. Bulls Eye, thus succeeded in delivering an interactive induction and meaningful discussions, leaving participants with a comprehensive experience.
At 5:30pm on Monday the 4th April ’16, at the college turf, about 150 students along with staff members assembled for the opening of BFC Tournament. The evening started with handing over of gift hampers to the staff members in recognition of their services to the college.
