A cultural programme was organized by the Department of Education on the 2nd of February 2022. The current pandemic has been a bane for all of us, but it could not dampen the spirit of the Semester 1 students to showcase their talents. Even though the event was held virtually, everything went off without a hitch on Google Meet. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Rekha Nariwal, Associate Professor, Department of Education. Dr Nariwal sang a few lines of the Saraswati Vandana and gave a melodious kickstart to the event. Harshita Shukla appeared as the anchor, while Bhavya Bhandari provided technical assistance and acted as the event’s screen presenter. The very first performance was done by Sreyasi Das. She danced gracefully in Bharatnatyam on the song Yadhi Mahi. Next, we had Anshika Khanchandani swooning us with her sweet voice singing Hansi Bann Gaye from the movie Humari Adhuri Kahani. Basairah Kamal and Adnan Khan presented the various Art froms of India by preparing an eye catchy slideshow. They meticulously pointed out the well-known art forms like Madhubani painting, Kalamkari, Tanjore painting and many more. Md Sharique Alam sang the title track of Raabta. Harshita Shukla danced quite energetically on the song Ajaa Nachle while Sreyasi Das managed the anchoring part for a while. Lastly, we had with us Bhavya Bhandari who composed and recited a beautiful poem titled ‘It is just a matter of smile’. She expressed the idea that no matter what happens in our life, we must gracefully keep a smile and move on. Finally, Sayandita Deb Roy, CWTT, Department of Education sang a few lines from the Rabindra sangeet Jagorone Jaaye Bibhabhori and offered the Vote of Thanks on behalf of the Department of Education, expressing her deepest gratitude to the participants, and the respected teachers from the Arts Department who graced the occasion with their presence and made it a memorable one.
