Jubilee Hall. “Orientation” literally refers to a person’s basic attitude, beliefs, or feelings in relation to a particular subject or issue. The act of moulding such attitudes or beliefs, too, is widely referred to as Orientation and it is this moulding, that the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) seeks to impact, when it conducts a series of Orientation programmes each year as a new crop of freshers come in to be subjected to a lifestyle called Bhawanipur.
This year was no exception either as Prof Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student affairs personally welcomed all the newcomers – from the BCom, BA, BBA and BSc streams – through a series of programmes, spread over almost a week. He introduced the freshers to the various facilities that the college offers getting them acquainted, so that they are able to make full use of them for which they are intended. He talked about the spirit that is BESC – where achievements are only milestones that are to be achieved and surpassed. He talked at length about the unique philosophy of the institution that believes in freeing the young minds from the shackles that academic education in its simplest form forces them into. He also talked about how the college successfully imparts training in all the relevant subjects by making the minds receptive to the information being imparted, even as the students partake of activities they enjoy.
All the orientation programmes were attended by members representing the different collectives of the BESC – where students volunteer to participate in programmes of their choice as they go about imbibing invaluable life skills. Collective members were also given the opportunity to interact with the interested newcomers, address their issues and then embrace them into the ranks.
Prof Shah also went into great details to explain to the students the BESC exclusive – Career Connect, where students are provided with opportunities to pursue a specific course, conducted by professionals from the respective fields, with the opportunity of turning it into a career option. Dr Divyesh Shah, the head of the morning commerce section of the college and Prof Minakshi Chaturvedi assisted Prof Shah in introducing the specific career Connect programmes and addressing the queries that some students had. Commerce Plus, Corporate Communication, Digital Marketing, ACA, ACCA, Tally & GST were all single out and presented before the students for their active consideration.
Members of the Flames and Enact Collectives of the BESC regaled the crowd in each orientation programme with pieces that were exclusively crafted by them for the purpose.
