March 6th, 2019. Concept hall. The world has shrunk, borders have evaporated and physical constrains are no longer a restricting factor for those who dare to dream. This new reality manifests itself in the way students are seeking out opportunities to study abroad, to get for them the education that they deem to best fit their desires. The Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) has always celebrated this search for excellence, providing students the wherewithal to touch their dreams. The seminar on education abroad was another step in this direction, as explained by Prof Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student Affairs of the College.
Prashant Maheshwari, Rumki Majumdar and Shah Nawaz Khan academic counsellors representing three of the top entities engaged in helping students find their right matches in overseas campuses where in the college to deliver talks and take questions from BESC students eager to break into the global campus scene.
Sahida Hasan, eminent corporate trainer and guest faculty was also present to address student issues. She conducted the communication between the guests and the students often forming the questions clouding in the student minds in concrete terms so as to get the queries resolved. She also asked a number of questions the answers to which only went to enlighten the students about various issues – the trials and tabulations of education abroad.
The fact that more than a hundred students comprised the eager audience, was testimony of the kind of importance the BESC students accords the emerging educational opportunities abroad and going by the sheer numbers alone, one can safely comment that the basic purpose of organising the event was a success.
The speakers took the students in a detailed journey that talked about the various steps that are needed to be taken to break into an overseas educational institution. Issues relating to the ways of application for the various tests, the shortlisting of target universities, concerns over LOR and SOP, admission procedures, acquisition of student visas and departure orientation were talked about at length.
Scholarship plans and employability concerns were the two major areas that were enquired about most of the students which too were addressed by the speakers.
Competition in India; quality and rankings of the different educational institutions abroad; scholarship woes; networking for added edges; flexibility of course options; travel documentation and visa issues were also among the different things that were discussed by the speakers who went out of the way to assuage the fears in the minds of the students who were otherwise to keen to make the trips in search of excellence.
After the general discourse the students were also accorded an opportunity to have one on one sessions with the guest professionals of addressed individual issues and personal concerns so as to help students hone in their choices and gather all relevant information about courses and campuses as they deemed fit.
