Every year, Sri Shikshayatan College celebrates youth and the intrinsic creativity of the city’s college going population through their fest, the Srijan. The idea is as much to provide the students an outlet for their creative energies as it is to provide a platform for the talents to be highlighted, appreciated so that they may find their fruition in life. This year was no exception either.
Srijan 2019 was strung around the theme Marvel Super Heroes and in keeping with it, some of the performances were indeed heroic, while some others reached standards that were simply beyond the physical abilities of the ordinary mortals. The two days witnessed some of the city’s best talents winning hearts and influencing people even as they went about adding to the medal tallies for their respective colleges.
In the sports section the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) participated in five events in which it struck gold in three – Basketball (Boys and Girls) and Tug of War (boys). BESC took the silver in Tug of War for girls while in Throw Ball for boys it took the bronze. Five medals in five events participated – not bad by any stretches of the imagination.
In the cultural events that followed, the contingent from BESC was equally prolific. BESC won the top slots for Street Play, Nongas cooking, Ads spoof, Solo singing, Fusion Dance and Antakshari.
Participants from the BESC were adjudged second best in Live Reporting, Spell Bee, Jam & Verteez, Stress Interview and Solo battle dance.
In Nail Art, Debate, Logo designing and Marketing the BESC students were placed third winning the bronze medals.
The haul of medals was impressive to put things mildly and as is now the norm, the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) emerged as the overall champions of Srijan 2019. The college contingent was also adjudged the Best College, which added another feather in the cap.
Congratulating the students who had brought such honours to the college, Prof Dilip Shah, the dean of student affairs of BESC pointed out the fact how the BESC students have almost made winning a habit and urged them to pursue excellence to such a level that they may become unassailable, in the process enjoying the very acts of performing, of winning.
