A Communiqué is an official announcement. A statement, essentially one that is made to the media, with a view towards reaching out to a wider audience.
At BESC, Communiqué is much more – it is a platform where thoughts are created, curated and communicated for minds to comprehend, hearts to relate to and souls to connect.
That the Communique is a one of a kind, inter-College literary fest, that has curved out a distinct niche for itself in the hears of the student community, needs no elaboration.
Pranab Mukherjee – ex journalist, writer, thinker, orator, acknowledged exponent of the arts of debating and dramatics – not to mention, the moving spirit behind the fest, conducted a two-day curtain-raiser cum workshop for the participants.
Students were exposed to and progressively coached on matters relating to both public speaking and creative writing.
The Do’s and Don’ts that speakers should adhere to, the qualities that help a speaker to be heard over the din, how to make words tell tales and a host of other related topics were broached, interspersed with personal anecdotes and examples from the literary world in a manner that is vintage Pranab Sir.
The 30 students who attended were spellbound and are ready to celebrate the “Word”.
For, more than anything else, the Communiqué is the celebration of the Word.
The Word – written, spoken, strung into poems of love, condensed into proverbs, vicious in arguments, staccato in speeches, soft in careless whispers – in all its myriad forms.
